Orthodontics is the discipline of straightening teeth into a more aesthetic and functional position. It is traditionally completed during childhood and adolescence but can be the conservative treatment of choice in adults to achieve improved dental aesthetics and function especially when combined with other minimally invasive cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening and composite bonding.
At DDP+ we offer a wide range of teeth straightening treatment options. Our friendly and skilled clinicians will be delighted to welcome you to our practice and discuss the various treatment options to allow you to achieve your treatment and smile goals.
At DDP+ we pride ourselves on offering the most advanced treatment options currently available. We aim to work with our patients to tailor specific plans to meet their expectations whilst striving to provide a smooth, relaxed but efficient patient treatment journey.
Fortunately, there are various alternative orthodontic options available that do not involve the traditional metal train tracks. At DDP + we can offer a multitude of less invasive and more discrete orthodontic treatments options such as ceramic braces and clear aligners such as Invisalign.
Our services range from providing traditional metal NHS braces to eligible registered patients under 26 years of age to working with our adult patients to achieve their cosmetic and oral health goals with a variety of orthodontic treatment options.
Our referral-based clinic is open to registered patients of the practice but we also welcome non-registered patients and we would be delighted to work with you and your referring dentist. Patients and dentists can refer directly through our website referral portal and our treatment coordinator will be in touch to discuss your needs and how we can help.
Treatment length varies for each case, with good patient cooperation and motivation this can be between 6 – 24 months.
No! Orthodontic treatment is available to adolescents and adults assuming the teeth and gums are healthy and free from dental disease.
Often orthodontic treatment is combined with other dental disciplines such as minimally invasive aesthetic dentistry, providing, tooth whitening, composite bonding or even crowns and veneers if necessary.
For Fixed braces you will be required to attend appointments at the practice every 6-8 weeks for any adjustments, and to monitor progress.
For Invisalign/Clear aligners you will be given a number of your aligners home with you once your custom made trays arrive, these should be changed every 7-14 days if worn as required, resulting in less visits to the practice. We will of course see you back in the practice to monitor your progress.
Once orthodontic treatment is complete, retention is needed to maintain the alignment of your teeth, this can be a clear removable aligner worn each night indefinitely or a fixed retainer which consists of a thin metal wire that is permanently bonded to the back of your front teeth.
